Vintage 2024

The 2024 vintage is now officially done. We started on 24 February when we picked the Darley Chardonnay and finished on 4 May when the last of the reds, a special cabernet sauvignon, was pumped into a new French oak puncheon. That is just over two months – but what a wonderful two months it was.

In total, we hand-picked, we crushed, mushed, and nurtured 1.3 tonnes of Darley chardonnay, and 1.1 tonnes of Darley shiraz. We also processed almost 4 tonnes of shiraz, and 1.3 tonnes of cabernet sauvignon, from neighbouring regions. We are enormously thankful for the growers who were kind enough to spare us some of their crop. All came from well-loved vineyards and were picked at the perfect time to give full expression of their variety and vineyard location.

We extend our greatest of thanks to our friends and family who rolled up their sleeves to lend a hand. Without them we would probably still be picking our chardonnay. We also want to extend a very special thanks to George Ainalis who joined us in the winemaking for 2024.

All of the wines are looking, and tasting, fantastic in barrel – we can’t wait to see how they develop over the coming months.

What’s next at Camerons Estate? Over the winter we have many hours of pruning ahead of us. Once that’s complete we are excited to bottle and launch our 2023 vintage. Be sure to subscribe to our mailing list to be first to catch our 2023 wines once they hit our online store.
